Don't Make New Year's Resolutions
New Year's resolutions have always been a point of failure and a basic bitch thing to do. I don't believe in setting anything or anyone up to fail and this is just another one of those things. Read on to find out why and how you can really bring about change in 2018.

What we often forget is that change—these things that we promise ourselves with New Year's resolutions—doesn't just happen. Even with a grand declaration and very convincing intentions, change only comes when we consciously make the decisions that bring them about. It's changing old habits and forming new ones. The most difficult thing is that we have to act on it every second of every day for such a long time. Whining and bitching doesn't count. Because there's only two steps to fixing a problem:
- Knowing what it is
- And then fixing it
And if you only do number one, then you're insane. Literally. Because the definition of insanity is doing the same thing while expecting different results.
So for 2018, act on the things you've kept in your head; make them come true. There's no use in making a list of a list of intentions and nothing's ever done until they have been. The only thing to get ready for is when it happens. No great endeavour is done within a day. It doesn't sleep and all that it feeds on to stay alive is your dedication. There's this quote by some French philosopher that I like to think of when I feel like I'm letting any of my dreams die:
It's a bit of a mouthful, but slow down and think about it. Do you really want the gravestone of a dream/passion to read:
And you know what, I'm sick and tired of all the bitches who moan about the fact that people can't change. So what? Get over yourself. Fine, people can't change, but do you know what we can do? We can grow. That's why the New Year's resolutions fail. That's why one day at a time works. And if you don't want to grow up then stay in 2017. Of all the years to go by, somehow that one felt like the most childish (*cough* every bit of bullshit the Trump administration put out such as dumbass terms like "fake news" and "alternative facts" and *cough* fucking fidget spinners). Do you know where you go if you go nowhere? It's not nowhere; it's just further away.
Quit saying what you don't "fuck with" and fuck with shit more than just giving it a verbal like. Do more things to make yourself a better person. Do more things to make anything around you better.
So what's up for 2018? I feel like it may be the year to quit the bullshit... or to be stuck in it worse. If you can make something happen, if you can do something, do it. We don't remember the times we didn't do something, but we sure as hell remember times we did, especially if we made it awesome and especially if it changed us for the better.
Cheers to living more of life!
